Morning Skincare Routine - March 2017

As you can probably tell I am in the middle of a horrendous cold while filming this. It makes me a bit vague. This is my morning skincare routine - basic, gentle products that will soften the skin, prep it for the day and not irritate. Everything is listed below.

If you haven't already then please subscribe and I'd love to hear if any of you have an alternative to the sadly discontinued Body Shop cleanser. All my full reviews of the products are below and links to buy the products are below that.

This is a favourite with make-up artists and I love it. But that doesn't mean you need to rush out and buy it...

Friday Video - Amped Up Pink Bridal

I bought some Maybelline 24hr Tattoo Eye Cream in Pink Gold for a bridal client I have so I've used it here to create a bridal look with a slightly more dramatic liner. Pink is a great colour for all eye colours but especially green and blue eyes. Use with Teddy liner by MAC if you'd rather have a softer liner.

I would love it if you would check out and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

 Products Used:

Embroylisse Lait Cream Concentrate
MAC Face and Body Foundation in N2
Maybelline 24hr Tattoo Cream Eye Colour in Pink Gold

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

I moaned and whinged about my terrible skin throughout the whole time I was pregnant, and to be fair it was pretty dreadful, then to make up for the horrors of childbirth (not that bad this time round) my skin was amazing for about three weeks after Ned was born. Now it's dull, sensitive and prone to the occasional spot popping up out of nowhere (which never used to happen!). I have been using the lovely Rich Balm from Embryolisse and Origins Make a Difference + which are fantastic for the dryness and sensitivity but not really doing anything for the dullness.

Dermalogica Daily MicrofoliantMy usual go-to exfoliator of choice is Origins Never a Dull Moment - rough enough to do the job but gentle enough to not remove all the skin from your face - but even this hasn't been brightening me up. I put it down to sleep loss, Ned is pretty good but 5 hours max in a row is not really conducive to looking your best. More out of nosiness (it's a sort of make-it-yourself exfoliator) I decided to try Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant and not for nothing is it their number 1 exfoliant. And you don't have to take their (or my) word for it. 98% (that's 251 or their 256) of their reviews on the site would recommend the product to a friend and it gets a full 5 star rating.

This rice-based exfoliating powder reacts with water releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes to get rid of dead skin cells leaving your skin noticeably smoother and brighter. You pour the powder into your wet hands, rub them together to make a paste and rub all over your face (avoiding the eye area), massage gently for a minute or so before rinsing. I could really see and feel the difference after one use which is impressive.

Embryolisse Baume Riche

I love Embryolisse. Their Lait Creme Concentrate, Hydra-Mat Emulsion and Lotion Micellaire are constants in my professional kit and now I've been trying out their new Baume Riche a rich cold cream that acts like a balm for very dry, sensitive skin.

Embryolisse Baume RicheThe first thing you notice (apart from the lovely packaging) is the amazing smell - always a bonus with any product. You really don't need to use very much of this - a little goes a long way and you don't want to waste any of this as it's not cheap. Baume Riche is incredibly hydrating and sits on the skin for a while so I like to use it at night almost as a mask - I can still feel it on my skin in the morning. Having used it for a week my terrible skin has cleared up a lot; the redness has nearly gone and the spots are much less present.

I'm not saying this is a miracle spot-removing cream but I'm pretty sure that along with hormones, my bad skin has been caused by incredible dryness and this seems to be really helping. The dry, flaky skin on my chin which has been present since about week 6 of my pregnancy is gone and only a bit of easily-coverable redness remains. I will update this review if any of that changes over time when I'm using, or not using this product, it's hard to tell whether it's this or just bodily changes but I'm pretty confident that the incredible turn-around in my skin in the last week that I've started using Baume Riche is no coincidence.

I really recommend splashing the cash (£21.95 for 40ml is quite steep) and trying this out if you have dry skin - this could really turn it around. It also makes a lovely present for a girlfriend.
